The 25-year-old Illinois native, who is the nephew of NFL Hall-of-Fame linebacker Dick Butkus, joins the Ducks' offensive staff as a replacement for Aleki Pascua, who concluded his three-year graduate assistant appointment at the end of the 2004 season.
Butkus was a three-year starting center and two-time all-Big Ten Conference honoree at Illinois before earning his undergraduate degree in speech communications in 2001.
After concluding his collegiate career by starting in the 2002 Sugar Bowl, he spent the 2002 season on the practice squad with the San Diego Chargers before making several other stops in training camps with various other teams in the NFL and NFL Europe.
