Oregon took significant steps on Wednesday, to improve the defensive squad in the future by signing 12 defenders. The Ducks as of Wednesday night received a total of 18 National Letters of Intent. Among the 12 defensive players to sign was the number one defensive player in the nation according TheInsiders.com, defensive tackle Haloti Ngata, 6-4, 324, Highland High School, Salt Lake City, Utah, and defensive end Chris Solomona, 6-5, 278, El Camino College, San Pedro, California.

Both players are 5-star players as rated by TheInsiders.com. Another 5-star recruit was added on the offensive side with the signing of wide receiver Kellen Taylor, 6-0, 185 from City College of San Francisco.

The Ducks had plenty of star-rated players and concentrated on the defense with a total of five defensive backs, four defensive linemen and three linebackers. On offense the Ducks picked up two offensive linemen, one running back, one quarterback, one wide receiver and one tight end. The Ducks also signed three athletes.
