The Hot List Continues to Show Duck Interest

Several soon-to-be high school seniors are getting ready for summer vacation but that has not stopped them from keeping the Oregon Ducks in mind. This last week, and Super Prep have contacted several student-athletes that have expressed interest in Oregon.

Safety Jonas Mouton, 6-2, 212, 4.6, Los Angeles (Calif.) Venice Senior HS, is regarded as one of the very best in the country and while he doesn't yet have a top-5, he mentions Oregon when asked who are some of his favorite programs. Mouton also likes Oregon linebacker coach Don Pellum.

"I like coach (Don) Pellum from Oregon--and that whole staff has a lot of really good guys on it," Mouton told Allen Wallace of Super Prep this week."

Cornerback Shareece Wright, 5-11, 185, 4.5, Colton (Calif.) Colton HS, has also been hearing from the Ducks and has an offer too. The recruitment of Wright could come down to a race been Oregon and Washington. Wright told Wallace on Tuesday that Washington slightly leads, but there are some things he likes about Eugene.

"I like the area where Oregon is. I've been watching them for a few years now. They play top schools and get on TV a lot. But I've never spoken with their head coach (Mike Bellotti)," Wright said in an interview with Super Prep.

Another player that both the Ducks and Huskies covet is cornerback Devin Ross, 5-11, 180, 4.45, Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Rancho Cucamonga HS. Ross is considered a top-25 player nationally and has offers from all over the country. Ross has some friends playing for the Ducks now but he says that may not effect his future plans.

"I'm friends with both Patrick Chung (cornerback) and Terrence Whitehead (running back) from Oregon," Ross told Wallace. "I've played ball with them in the Pop Warner leagues. My friendship with them won't have any real influence on who I end up committing to. I really like he facilities they've got there."

Ross plans on taking an unofficial visit to Eugene this summer.

The Ducks have been making headway in the Southern part of the country. Last year the Ducks recruited Brian Truelove from the state of Georgia and Tucker Callahan from Alabama. This year Oregon has offered Michael Strickland, 6-1, 190, 4.6, Marietta (Ga.) Walton HS. ScoutTV posted three videos of Strickland in action.
