Autzen is a safe, fun place for a football game

During the 2001 Civil War a promotional clip was shown on the JumboTron scoreboard at Autzen Stadium. Nearly four months later, the Pac-10 admonished the University of Oregon Athletic department for showing the promotion on the scoreboard because the clip showed Coach Rick Neuheisel in an unflattering manner. Oregon's Athletic Director Bill Moos had sent a letter of apology to the University of Washington and to Coach Neuheisel and now the Oregon AD is looking forward.

A source within the Athletic Department indicated that Ducks consider the incident over. The Ducks likely though will be more careful on what goes on the scoreboard.

The image of the Autzen Stadium being unsafe to players and fans of other schools has been discussed at great length on the various message boards, but the Duck Athletic Department would like Duck fans to show great hospitality and sportsmanship to visitors and guests. Instead of "trash-talking" on the boards, the fans should keep in mind that their team is a national contender. Though Joey Harrington is now gone and likely will be in the NFL next season, Oregon football will still be looking for a national championship next season. Most likely the Ducks will have great success again next season, and Duck fans can do their part of making the Autzen environment "world-class" by showing good sportsmanship. The AD would like ever visitor and guest to have good time at Autzen Stadium. The AD believes that Duck fans can show their great enthusiasm for their team will being hospitable at the same time.

"We have great fans at Oregon," said the source. "We want visitors to feel welcome."
