(Media Release) NEW YORK – Former University of Oregon women's basketball standout Cathrine Kraayeveld has signed a contract with the WNBA's New York Liberty for the remainder of the 2005 season the team's Senior Vice President and General Manager Carol Blazejowski announced Friday.

The Kirkland, Wash., stalwart and 2005 Pacific-10 Conference first-team all-league honoree was a third-round pick by the San Antonio Silver Stars in April's WNBA Draft before being released in May in one of the final cuts prior to the start of the regular season.

She appeared in one pre-season game prior to being released, accounting for seven points and four rebounds against Los Angeles.

New York's next game is against San Antonio at 7 p.m. (EDT) Saturday in Madison Square Garden in the first of its final 23 games of the regular season..

The Liberty are currently in fifth place in the six-team Eastern Conference standings with a 5-6 record.

The 6-4 forward concluded her senior season averaging 14.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. She ranked sixth in the Pacific-10 Conference in scoring and second in rebounding to earn first-team all-conference accolades as well as all-region honors, in addition to ranking among the top-10 in nine of the league's 13 individual statistical categories.
