Flanagan lost for the season

EUGENE – University of Oregon offensive guard Shawn Flanagan is expected to undergo surgery Friday to repair a tear of his pectoral muscle near his right shoulder that will force him to miss the entire 2005 season, the Ducks' head football coach Mike Bellotti announced Tuesday.

The 6-6, 305-pound Pendleton junior originally suffered the non-football related injury in early July and attempted to play through it before reaching the conclusion it was in need of surgical repair.

Shawn Flanagan, who had started two games last season at right tackle in nine appearances and had opened four games over the past two years, was in the midst of a battle for the starting nod at right guard with returning starter Ian Reynoso.
