West Coast 2007 Rankings: Point Guards

Kamyron Brown, Jamelle McMillan, Harrison Gaines and Venoy Overton are among the top point guards in the 2007 West Coast class...

The West Coast 2006 class of point guards wasn't very good and, at first glance, the 2007 class doesn't look to be much better. Granted, the 2007 players have two years to go, so there's still hope for the class to get better. Brown is currently our top-rated player at the position. He's got a great frame and he's a very good athlete. Big and strong, he can finish plays inside and he has the potential to be a great defender. Decisions still need work, but he has a considerable upside. McMillan is the son of Nate McMillan and it's clear Jamelle picked up some things from his father. He's got a very good understanding of how to play and he consistently makes good decisions. His size is an asset and he showed signs this summer of becoming a better shooter. Gaines is a very good athlete with excellent quickness. He's got a scoring mentality, though, and needs to learn to make his teammates better. Overton is another guard who looks to score, but needs to work on his overall point guard skills. Thomas is very talented and can score from multiple spots on the court. His ultimate level as a prospect will likely depend on whether he gets any bigger.
