Officially interested

California wide receiver Travon Patterson (5-11, 175, 4.5) denies a leader but said he's very interested in Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Arizona and Utah. All have offered.

"I wouldn't necessarily say that I've got a top five, but those are schools that I'm really interested in right now," says Patterson, from Long Beach Poly High School.

"I haven't set up any official visits yet, but I know that I'd like to get out to Oregon, Washington State and Arizona when I can.

"I've liked Oregon's program since I was young and I like how they've opened their offense up to a spread. I also think I could go in there and be a big impact player for them. I just want to get out there and see the community, the players and the plays they run for my own eyes," he said.

"Washington State doesn't have that many receivers and I've been told by their coaches that I could go in there and probably start right away. I like how they pass the ball and I just want to see what they're all about.

"I've spoken with coach (Charlie) Williams (wide receivers) from Arizona and he really seems to like me. I like how they're interested in me. I just want to see the school, see how many receivers they have and where I could possibly fit in."

Patterson said he's camped at USC (no offer) and also visited UCLA (no offer) unofficially. "I want to try and take all five of my official visits and then commit to a program. I just want to see each team before I end up making that decision," he said.

2.8 GPA/1340 SAT--"I know that I'm already qualified but I want to retake the test in December to see if I can get a better score."
