West Coast 2007 Rankings: Power Forwards

It isn't often that a previously unknown player vaults to the top of the rankings. But that's exactly what happened with a talented power forward from Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw...

The position of power forward looks to be a little thin in the West
Coast class of 2007. Gant came out of nowhere this past summer to claim the top spot among power forwards. He's got a very good body, with long arms, and the quickness to possibly end up at the three down the road. A good shooter with three-point range, Gant figures to be a very tough match-up at the next level. He's got the size to play inside, but the ball skills and quickness to be effective on the perimeter. King is by far the best shooter on this list. He's got a very unique game for a power forward, with the ability to stretch a defense well beyond the three-point line. He needs to add strength in order to play inside at the next level. If he can develop his low-post offensive game, he'll be extremely tough for opposing teams to defend. Long and gangly, Grim looks like he hasn't completely grown into his body yet. He's got a decent touch to 15-17 feet and plays with good energy. He's a pretty good rebounder and a willing defender. He's got a high upside and it wouldn't surprise us to see him getting a lot of national attention next spring. Green is on the slender side, but he's got a very nice stroke out to about 20 feet. He needs to get stronger, and learn to play inside a little better, but he moves well. Walker has a great frame and a nice, lefty stroke to about 15 feet. He can play with his back to the basket or facing up. However, he needs to work on playing with a little more consistent intensity.
