Rushing Ahead

Salt Lake City (Utah) running back Stanley Havili (6-1, 215, 4.55) still favors Arizona, Iowa (10/22 official trip), BYU and California. He also said that Oregon, Boise State and Nebraska are still in the mix. All have offered.

"I still like all of those schools a lot," said Havili, from Cottonwood High School. "Nothing has really changed with them and I don't have a leader. I really haven't been paying much attention to recruiting lately because I've just been so focused on the season. We were supposed to go down to Louisiana for a game against John Curtis High School this Friday (9/2), but that game has been postponed because of Hurricane Katrina. We play next Friday (9/9) against Olympus High School," he said.

"I like to call the coaches at Arizona and Iowa sometimes and just talk with them about football and how the season is going so far.

"I know that I want to take all five of my official visits and Arizona is the only other school I know that I'll definitely go to for that second official. At this point, those last three visits are really just up for grabs.

"Tomorrow I'm going to meet up with coach (Mike) Canales (quarterbacks) and the rest of the team at Arizona at some hotel in Salt Lake City before they get going in their opener against Utah," Havili said. "We're probably just going to talk and see how everything has been going lately…I'm pretty excited for that.

"I also get around to talking with the coaches at BYU, Utah, Oregon and Boise State sometimes as well. I'm really good friends with Cody Hawkins (quarterback and Boise State commit). His dad, Dan Hawkins , is the head coach at Boise State, but Cody is still in high school at Bishop Kelly in Boise, Idaho. We talk about every other week about our games and stuff like that," he said.

Havili has put up some big numbers in his first two games of the season so far. Cottonwood is 1-1 on the season and last Saturday (8/27) Havili had 3 rushing touchdowns and one 99 yard kick return in Cottonwood's win against Overland High School.

On the season, he's already rushed for over 300 yards and six touchdowns.

2.5 GPA/18 ACT--October retest--"I still don't know if I'm fully qualified with that score, but I know that I want to retake it and do better."
