Week 1 for NFL Ducks

Week 1 for the NFL's 2005 Season is in the books for the Oregon alumni and former Ducks keep popping up in the NFL statistics. One former Oregon signal caller started the season off right with a win while another former Duck linebacker was back on the field in a loss.

Harrington was 15-for-28, 167 yards and two touchdowns in the season opening win. Harrington also had three rushes for a net 14 yards.

Wide receiver Samie Parker saw time for the Kansas City Chiefs against New York Jets. Parker had two catches for 23 yards with a long of 14. The Chiefs prevailed in the game, 27-7. Defensive tackle Junior Siavii was listed as not active for Kansas City.

Opening day was not good news for the Seattle Seahawks as they fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars 26-14 and Seattle's running back Maurice Morris had two carries for six yards. Jaguars' tight end George Wrighster had a catch for 27 yards.

Cleveland is the new home for running back Reuben Droughns and today the Cleveland Browns lost to the Cincinnati Bengals, 27-13. Droughns had 12 carries for 78 yards with the longest run of 24 yards. Bengals' cornerback Rashad Bauman was on the not active list.

After missing all of last year because of an injury, linebacker Peter Sirmon of the Tennessee Titans was back in action starting in a losing effort against Pittsburgh Steelers. Sirmon had four tackles (two solos and two assists) and an assisted tackle on Special Teams. The Steelers won the game, 34-7.

A former Duck punter was kicking to a former Duck punt return specialist today when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took on the Minnesota Vikings. Punter Josh Bidwell had six punts for an average 46.8 yards, with one inside the 20-yardline and a long of 52 yards. Viking punt returner Keenan Howry had five returns for an average of 10.8 yards with one long of 18 yards. The Bucs won 24-13.

Quarterback A.J. Feeley made an appearance for the Miami Dolphins against the Denver Broncos. The Dolphins won 34-10.

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the St. Louis Rams by a score of 28-25. Offensive lineman Adam Snyder was a participant and safety Keith Lewis recorded two Special Teams' assisted tackles.

Two former Duck teammates and now teammates with the San Diego Chargers played the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Tight end Justin Peelle had two catches for minus four yards and defensive end Igor Olshansky recorded a tackle. The Chargers lost to the Cowboys, 28-24.

Super Bowl Champions New England Patriots played last Thursday night and linebacker Wesly Mallard recorded a Special Teams tackle against the Oakland Raiders in the Patriots' 30-20 win.
