"My host was Patrick Chung, who also went to Ranch Cucamonga," Ross said. "We arrived on Saturday around noon. Oregon lost the game but they looked pretty good in the first half. USC is just a really good team, especially on offense. But I think the Oregon defense did a pretty good job in the first half. USC was just too tough to stop the whole game.
"After the game, we went to the football offices and I talked with coaches (Mike) Bellotti, (Michael) Gray (OLs) and (John) Neal (DBs). All the coaches are really nice. Bellotti is really funny. He's laid-back and cool. He enjoys the game of football and has been there a long time, so it's stable there.
"I just like the people very much at Oregon," he said. "They are very friendly. And I like the town. It's a football town like Nebraska (Lincoln). There is no other teams they support there in that area. Wherever you go, there are signs about the Ducks at all the restaurants. You see so much Oregon stuff everywhere. I also like the team's chemistry.
"The other school I have visited is Nebraska (September 2). I haven't set up any other official trips yet, but I've also seen the campuses of UCLA, Arizona and Cal.
"It's really hard to say which official trip I liked the best--Nebraska or Oregon? But I'd probably have to say Oregon. Both are football towns and I love both sets of coaches, especially coach (Bill) Callahan. He's really a straightforward guy and tells you how it is. He's really strict about his players need to do on the team.
"I'd say that Oregon and Nebraska are probably recruiting me the hardest. I talk with their coaches quite a bit. They can call you more during the week before your official visit," said Ross.
"UCLA is close to home and they are having a good year. I know I'll have an offer from them when they see my progress reports on my grades. I'll have over a 2.8 core when I'm finished.
"I like coach Mark Stoops with Arizona. He coaches the DBs and they send guys to the NFL, too.
"Oklahoma has been my team for a long time and I like coach (Bob) Stoops.
"Cal has good academics and they are a good team too.
I'd like to decide in the next couple of months," Ross said. "I need to do some more research. But for now, I'd say Oregon, UCLA and Oklahoma would be my top three."
Ranch Cucamonga is 3-0. Ross said he has two interceptions, over 20 tackles and also returned a kick-off 80 yds for a score.
