Joey Harrington was selected on the third pick of the first round in the NFL draft today by the Detroit Lions. Harrington was the first Duck to be selected in the first round of the NFL draft since Akili Smith was the third pick in the 1999 draft.
Maurice Morris, the starting running back for the Ducks in the 2001 season was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round on the 54th pick of the draft. Rashaud Bauman, an Pac-10 first team defensive back for the Ducks was drafted by Washington in the third round and the 79th pick.
On Sunday, Justin Peelle, starting tight end for the Ducks in 2001 was selected by San Diego in the fourth round on the 103rd pick in the draft. Wesly Mallard, linebacker was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round on the 188th pick. Steve Smith, defensive back, was selected by Jacksonville in the seventh round on the 246th pick.
David Carr from Fresno State was the first overall pick by Houston.
