A run and gunner drawing some Oregon interest

Sean Hakes is drawing lots of attention. Sean, 6-3, 207, Fort Worth (Texas) Nolan Catholic HS, is a quarterback with 4.63 speed in the 40-yard dash and is considered a dual-threat quarterback with his ability to run and pass.

Who are the football programs around the country that are interested in him? Programs that run the spread offense, that's who. Bowling Green, Arizona, Iowa, Akron, Ohio University and UCLA are some of the names that pop up and now one more program that is sporting a 6-1 record. The Oregon Ducks have been in heavy contact with Sean over the last couple of weeks.

"They just contacted us recently," said Sean Hakes of Oregon. "We sent film to them and Coach Bellotti called. He liked what he saw and is very interested."

Hakes may be off the radar somewhat because he transferred last season to Nolan Catholic, a private school in downtown Fort Worth. He attended a Nike camp last summer but was just recovering from pneumonia, and his weight was down to about 175 pounds. He has been training hard since and has his 40-time back up to 4.62.

While Sean has never been to the state of Oregon, he hears it is a nice place. He plans to take an unofficial visit, just to see where everything is at in terms of the Ducks program. He may make a trip to the Oregon-Cal game on November 5th, and if things go well he might make an official trip too.

Right now he lists Bowling Green, Arizona, UCLA, Akron (offer), Colorado State (offer), Iowa and Oregon as his favorites, though he says he is still wide open in terms of interest.
