Week 9 for NFL Ducks

Things looked a bit better during the week for a former Duck quarterback as he got his old job back, but at the end of the day it was the same old story. Meanwhile last week had some bad news for a former Duck running back, but on Sunday he had a great day in a win.

While some of his off field activities have not been so good, Droughns had some good news on the field against the Titans rushing for 116 yards on 20 carries including a long run of 24 yards. Droughns also caught four passes for 73 yards with a long of 51. Tennessee linebacker Peter Sirmon did not play in the game. The Browns now are 3-5 for the season while the Titans are 2-7. Earlier in the week, Droughns pleaded not guilty to the charge of Driving Under Intoxication (DUI). He has a trial date set for 12/16.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3) overcame the Houston Texans (1-7) by a score of 21-14, and Jaguars' tight end George Wrighster had a catch for eight yards.

The San Francisco 49ers (2-6) dropped another game to the New York Giants, 24-6. San Francisco's safety Keith Lewis had a tackle and offensive lineman Adam Snyder played in the game. The win upped New York's record to 6-2 for the year.

Wide receiver Samie Parker is still out with an injury and did not play for the Kansas City Chiefs (5-3) in the 27-23 win over the Oakland Raiders. The Chiefs' defensive tackle Junior Siavii played in the game that saw the Raiders' season record drop to 3-5.

Cornerback Rashad Bauman was back on the field for the Cincinnati Bengals (7-2) in the 21-9 win over the Baltimore Ravens (2-6). Bauman recorded two tackles in the game.

The Carolina Panthers (6-2) upended the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-3), 34-14. Tampa Bay's punter Josh Bidwell had six kicks averaging 48.6 yards per punt, with a long of 59 and one inside the 20. Newly signed linebacker Wesly Mallard was not active for the Buccaneers against Carolina.

The San Diego Chargers (5-4) beat the New York Jets 31-26 and Chargers' defensive end Igor Olshansky had three tackles (1 solo, 2 assists). Tight end Justin Peelle played in the game for San Diego, but Chargers' quarterback A.J. Feeley was listed as Not Active. The Jets are now 2-6 for the year.

Seattle Seahawks running back Maurice Morris had five carries for 30 yards and caught one pass for 12 yards in the 33-19 win over the Arizona Cardinals. The Seahawks are now 6-2 overall while the Cardinals dropped to 2-6.

Joey Harrington returned as the starting quarterback due to the injury to Jeff Garcia and while Harrington's numbers were a bit better, 28-for-48, 263 yards, one touchdown and 2 interceptions, the results were the same for the Detroit Lions. The Lions (3-5) lost again to the Minnesota Vikings, 27-14. The Vikings now are also 3-5 for the year.
