Kenton Walker, 6-8 JR PF/C San Diego (Calif.) Scripps Ranch, is one of the more promising posts in the West Coast class of 2007. A lefty with a nice touch out to fifteen feet, Walker has a great frame and he moves well for his size.
We spoke with Walker recently and asked him about the schools he has been hearing from so far.
"Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, Washington, Washington State, New Mexico, San Diego State…those are some of them," said Walker.
We asked Walker if he had a favorite school growing up and he replied, "Kentucky – I like the way they play defense."
Walker listed some of the factors he'll consider when making his choice.
"A good education, a nice community, and playing time is very important," said Walker.
Walker has taken unofficial visits to San Diego and UCLA. "I'm also supposed to visit San Diego State on an unofficial," said Walker.
We asked Walker if he has given any thought to where he'd like to take his official visits.
"I'd like to visit Stanford, Cal, San Diego State and New Mexico," said Walker.
When asked if he has a timeframe for choosing a school, Walker said, "I'd like to decide by the end of my junior year or the start of my senior year."
Walker told us he currently has a 3.3 GPA.
