No Pressure

Kicker Sam Buckman (6-3, 198, 4.8) from Minnetonka (Minn.) said that Army has offered him a scholarship and that several others are showing interest.

Buckman favors Michigan slightly over USC, Army, Boston College and Oregon. "My sister went to Michigan and I've always liked them," said Buckman. "Both my parents are from Kalamazoo and I had some uncles go there too. I love the academics and the big-time atmosphere there."

He's already been on the Michigan and Boston College campuses. "All these schools have requested tape from me," said Buckman. "Army and Michigan have offered me official visits and I hope to set them up soon. I really think that more schools are becoming more interested in me now."

Despite being a Minnesota kid, Buckman admits he's never been a Gophers fan. "I want to get away from home, plus I don't really like the Metrodome. I've never been a Gophers fan.

"I love the scenery and tradition at Boston College. It's just a great place."

"I have an uncle who lives in Oregon and he has nothing but good things to say about the state and the school."

Buckman's team finished 7-3 this season and he was three out of five on field goals. During his junior year, Buckman went 14 for 16, with a long of 47 yards. "I'm good at kickoffs and can kick far and deep. Also, I'm pretty accurate and can handle pressure well," said Buckman. "We won the state championship my junior year and it was played in the Metrodome and I kicked the game winning field goal."

He reports a 3.6 GPA and a 24 ACT.
