Ducks down Savannah State in Season Opener

The Oregon Men opened the 2005-06 season with an 83-23 win over Savannah State at MacArhur Court in Eugene. The win gave Oregon's head coach Ernie Kent his 150th win at Oregon.

Four Ducks scored in double figures led by sophomore Chamberlain Oguchi's 19, hitting 6-of-8 in field goals including 3-for-4 3-pointers and was 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Sophomore center Ray Schafer had 15, while sophomore Malik Hairston had 12. Sophomore Bryce Taylor chipped in 11.

Oregon's sophomore Maarty Luenen led all rebounders with 10.

Javon Randolf was Savannah State's leading scorer with 10.

The Ducks will play Bowie State on Monday at 7:30 p.m. on Mac Court in the second day of the Hispanic College Fund Classic.
