December Decision Looms

Running back Tracy Slocum (5-10, 195, 4.6) from Clovis East (Calif.) still denies a leader, but has official visits scheduled to California (December 3), UCLA (December 16) and Fresno State in January. Slocum already visited Arizona State on October 28.

"I don't really have a front runner right now," Slocum said. "I'll take my visits and see how I feel. I'd like to make a decision toward the end of December so I may not even end up taking a trip to Fresno State. I like Oregon too, but I probably won't have time to visit them either. I want to make sure I fit in and get along with everyone before I commit."

"Fresno State is right in my backyard," Slocum said. "They are losing a bunch of running backs this year and I may be able to start. They always seem to have a pretty good team and I like how hard they compete.

"Cal has great tradition and I love coach Jeff Tedford," Slocum said. "He's a great guy and really smart.

"I really liked my visit to Arizona State," Slocum said. "It was a lot of fun. I liked all the players and loved the support the town gave the team. It's a really nice community atmosphere."

Slocum suffered a fractured fibula in his left leg and played in only four games this season. He gained 800 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Clovis East finished the year with a 9-2 record.

He reports a 2.4 GPA and a 1200 SAT.
