Ducks beat Broncos 75-66

The Oregon Ducks (5-3) got back on the winning track with a 75-66 win over the Santa Clara Broncos (4-3) on Tuesday night at McArthur Court on the campus of the University of Oregon. Five Ducks scored in double figures led by Ivan Johnson and Aaron Brooks both with 16 points.

Leunen recorded a double double by scoring 15 points and hauling down 11 rebounds. Malik Hairston continued his streak of double-figure scoring by dropping in 12 and Chamberlain Oguchi added 10. Oregon head coach Ernie Kent was impressed with Leunen's performance.

"He was consistent and he kept getting in there and getting tough rebounds," said Kent. "I thought he probably should have been to the free throw line even more than he was. The game was very physical inside and guys were banging around."

Ivan Johnson made his career start for Oregon on Tuesday against Santa Clara.

"Ivan earned his starting spot tonight and played very well," Kent said of Johnson. "He is such a big, strong, quick athlete, that he can make those steals and breakaway dunks and he will have several more of those this season."

Travis Niesen had 16 for the Broncos and two other Santa Clara players, Brody Angley and Calvin Johnson had 15 apiece.

The Ducks will travel to Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday to take on New Mexico with a tip-off time scheduled for 6 p.m. (Pacific Time).
