Portland State wins 54-52

The Portland State Vikings defeated the Oregon Ducks 54-52 at McArthur Court on Tuesday night. The loss dropped the Ducks to 6-6 for the season while PSU improved to 6-6. Oregon's leading scorer Malik Hairston was unable to play because of an injured toe.

The Ducks were unable to control the tempo of the game and shot 36 percent from the field on a 20-for-56 night. Bryce Taylor led the Ducks with 11 points while Aaron Brooks added 10. They were the only double figure scorers for Oregon.

Portland State shooting slightly better at 39 percent (20-of-51) beat the Ducks by hitting 12-of-19 free throws compared to Oregon's 8-of-15.

Scott Morrison was the leading point-maker for the night with 15 points. He was the only Viking in double figures.

Oregon concluded the non-conference schedule with Portland State and now faces Oregon State at Mac Court on Saturday, with the opening of the Pac-10 season. Saturday's special New Year's Eve game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tip-off time. The game will be televised on the Oregon Sports Network.
