Tyler Porras Profile
"I mailed in my application to Stanford a few weeks ago," Porras said. "I should be hearing back from them in early January."
Porras claims the Cardinal has already offered. His only other offer is from Northern Arizona. "Right now these schools are just checking out my film," Porras said. "A lot of schools were busy signing the JC guys and are now shifting focus back to the high school recruits. I expect to hear a lot more from all of these schools in January. Hopefully, I'll be able to set up a few more official visits."
Porras favors Stanford slightly over Cal, Oregon, Washington, Washington State, New Mexico and Northern Arizona.
"I think that Washington State is probably the closest other school to offering," Porras said. "Defensive line coach Mike Walker really liked my film and he's an old friend of my dad's (dad is Tom Porras who played quarterback for Washington). I think I'll be setting up a visit with them soon."
Local favorite Arizona is no longer recruiting Porras. "They got all their commits," Porras said. "But they said they would welcome me as a walk-on. Right now I'm just gonna wait and see what happens with these other schools."
He reports a 4.0 GPA and a 1620 SAT.
