Ducks vs Trojans?

"I'm not going to take any more trips I don't think," said California wide receiver Travon Patterson. "Probably not. I've decided it's between USC and Oregon, I think. But if I did end up taking another trip, it would be to Washington State or Washington..."

California wide receiver Travon Patterson (5-10, 170, 4.5) from Poly High School in Long Beach said he has narrowed his focus to "USC and Oregon."

"It will be a hard decision for me," Patterson said. "Both USC and Oregon are recruiting me equally hard and call me a lot. From USC, coach Jethro Franklin is my recruiter. He's outgoing and very friendly. I feel like I'm not just a prospect with him. We've kind of clicked.

"Don Pellum is recruiting me for Oregon. He's a lot like Jethro. Plus, coach Pellum grew up in Long Beach and he knows a lot about Poly and a lot about me too and what I need.

"My two best trips were to Oregon and USC. I had a great time at both places. Oregon was better than I expected. There's a lot to do there. I found out that it is a lot more of a city than I thought and that there is a lot more to do there than in Corvallis (Oregon State).

"I like Oregon because they pass the ball a lot. I really felt comfortable with the staff and players on my trip (Oct. 15). They have a really good passing attack and two good quarterbacks," Patterson said.

"USC is on top and they have a great offense. Also, a degree from USC is big here and it can take you a long way. Everyone on the team there seems to fit well together and it's closer to home.

"I'm not sure when I will announce my decision. I think I'll commit on national television. The people at Fox Sports told me to call them when I'm ready to do it. I don't know when that will be though.

"Neither team has any lead over the other. I really couldn't tell you who I'm going to choose. The coaches haven't put any kind of pressure on me.

"I'm not going to take any more trips I don't think. Probably not. I've decided it's between USC and Oregon, I think. But if I did end up taking another trip, it would be to Washington State or Washington."

As a senior, Patterson had 25 receptions for 700 yards and 15 touchdowns.

He reports a 2.6 core GPA and a 1340 SAT/18 ACT.
