Defensive tackle Sione Fua (6-2, 290, 4.9) from Encino Crespi Carmelite (Calif.) just returned from his official visit to Oregon this evening. He went alone.

Sione Fua Profile

"I just got back around 6:00 pm," Fua said. "It was a good trip. It helped me to know a lot more about the school. Before the trip I didn't really know much about the school or the community and I liked what I saw.

"My host was David Faaeteete (soph DL from Medford, Ore.). They took me out some some nice restaurants, some steak places. It was good food. We also met with teachers at a faculty brunch. The trip was a good experience for me.

"We stayed at the Hilton in Eugene," he said. "It's the hotel where the team stays the night before games. It was cold and it rained in the night. But in the day, it was usually nice.

"There was another walk-on guy who was also visiting. His first name was Alex. The other visitor was Bo Thran (Oregon OL from Barlow HS in Gresham). We all had our own rooms.

"Right now, I'd say it's between Stanford and Oregon. If I had to say, I'd give Stanford a very small edge, but it's really even. It'll be a hard decision for me. I'll just have to sit down and think about it. I'll decide this week, maybe Thursday. I won't go on TV or anything. I'll just tell the schools.

"I like Stanford because of the academics. It's just a great school and their football program is up-and-coming," Fua said.

"At Oregon, I could get everything I'm looking for in a school. They have great tradition there and I really liked the people too.

"Both Oregon and Stanford want me for defense."

Fua reports a 4.0 GPA/1670 SAT--"I'd like to study along the lines of business."
