Latest Duck commit has connections

Athlete Spencer Paysinger, 6-3, 210, Beverly Hills (Calif.) Beverly Hills HS, committed to the University of Oregon on Thursday morning.

There were a couple of factors in his decision. First, Coach Don Pellum has been a life-long friend of the family and second Duck wide receiver Brian Paysinger is Spencer's cousin.

"My cousin is up there," said Spencer Paysinger of his decision. "That made it easier."

Initially Paysinger had been recruited as a strong safety, but he is regarded as an athlete, meaning he could end up playing on either offense or defense.

Beverly Hills ended up going non-defeated through the regular season finishing 9-1-2 for the year, with the only loss to Rio Mesa in the playoffs.

Spencer had 54 catches for 1,093 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also had two interceptions on defense along with 67 tackles (43 solo, 29 assisted) including one sack.

Paysinger picked Oregon over Boise State, Colorado and Wyoming.
