13th Annual NW Shootout Set for April 2nd

The outstanding high school senior basketball players from Oregon and Washington, chosen by their state's coaches association, will play in the 13th annual Les Schwab Northwest Shootout on Sunday, April 2nd, at University of Portland's Chiles Center. The event is organized by the Multnomah Athletic Foundation.

The Les Schwab Northwest Shootout is an opportunity for sports fans to watch the top graduating girls and boys from this winter's basketball season cap their high school careers by competing for their state's bragging rights of hoop supremacy over their Northwest rivals.

In addition to being a competitive showcase of talent, the Northwest Shootout is for a good cause. Proceeds from the event benefit the Multnomah Athletic Foundation's grants and scholarship funding for the ongoing support of disadvantaged athletes, athletic programs and facilities throughout the Northwest. Every year the foundation is a substantial supporter of youth programs and aspiring athletes who may otherwise not get a chance to participate in sports.

Since the first games in 1994, the Oregon boys' teams have won nine out of the 12 Northwest Shootouts. The Oregon and Washington girls' teams have won six apiece.

Some well known players who participated in the Shootout during their senior prep seasons include: Adam Morrison, Dan Dickau, Luke Jackson, Jason Terry, Derek Ravio, Michael Doleac, Michael Dickerson, Michael Dunleavy, Aaron Miles, Maarty Leunen, Brian Scalabrine , Blake Stepp , Fred Jones, Josh Tarver, Betsy Boardman, Lindsey Yamasaki, Stacey Clinesmith, Sheila Lambert, Kate Murray, Sheila Lambert, Chantelle Anderson, Jillian Harman and many others.
