Sitting around the table at McMinnimin's on the north bank of the Willamette, the staffs of eDuck and Dawgman talked about the Nike Camp and some of the performances of the participants. When a straw vote was taken of who had the best performances of the camp, one name that popped up was Kyle Gunther, a 6-4 285 pound offensive lineman from Camarillo High School, Camarillo, California. Gunther demonstrated good footwork in drills and caught the attention of several bystanders.
If the name Gunter sounds familiar to Duck fans there is a reason. Kyle's dad Keith lettered for the Ducks in 1977. According to his dad, Kyle has been following the Ducks since he was five years old. Certainly the Fiesta Bowl appearance didn't hurt the Ducks image in Kyle's eyes as well as to the senior Gunther's.
Kyle has had many schools express interest in his talents and he is still open regarding his future plans. Kyle will also attend the Oregon camp that will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2002 at the Moshofsky Center.
