Portland State Fills Scheduling Void in 2006

EUGENE – The University of Oregon has reached an agreement with Portland State to play a football game in Autzen Stadium on Oct. 28 as a replacement for a previously scheduled game during the upcoming 2006 season, according to the Ducks' Director of Athletics Bill Moos.

The game replaces one with Utah State which was previously scheduled for Sept. 23. However the Aggies informed Oregon last Tuesday (Feb. 28) of their intentions to not follow through with the agreement in order to schedule a game instead on that date at BYU.

The Ducks, who previously had an open date scheduled for Oct. 28, will now open their 12-game regular season hosting Stanford on Sept. 2, followed by a game at Fresno State Sept. 9 and a home game vs. Oklahoma Sept. 16. Their open date will now shift to Sept. 23.

It will mark the third meeting between Oregon and Portland State on the football field and the first since 2002, with the Ducks prevailing in each of the two previous contests.

The NCAA Division I-AA opponent sported a 6-5 record in 2005.
