Portland's Central Catholic star, Ryan Gunderson is considered by many to be the top quarterback in Oregon and one of the best on the West coast. He has already received scholarship offers from Portland State, Idaho and Oregon State. He recorded excellent stats at the June 8 Nike Camp held in Eugene measuring in at 6-4 and weighing 212 pounds. His 40-yard dash time was 4.84 seconds and his shuttle time was 4.26 seconds.
Ryan's top-five favorite schools are in no order ASU, California, Notre Dame, Washington and Oregon State. He has already been down to ASU and worked out with head coach and former Oregon offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter. He is planning to attend California's camp and hopefully visit with head coach Jeff Tedford who also was a former Oregon offensive coordinator. After California's camp Ryan says he wants to take a road trip out to Notre Dame and Purdue and then finish with a visit to Washington and perhaps Stanford.
"I might commit early depending on the offers I get from my top five," says Gunderson.
At the Nike Camp, Ryan was grouped with the other prolific quarterbacks, such as DuRocher and T.C. Ostrander, by quarterback coach Bob Johnson for the final set of drills. "Bob Johnson is a great coach," says Gunderson. "I went down to Mission Viejo and worked out with him."
Ryan's childhood favorite school has always been Oregon. "They have already offered a bunch of other guys (quarterbacks) and Johnny's (DuRocher) committed," says Gunderson. "At this point they haven't been calling me and I'm not planning on going to their camp."
