Impressive numbers from the weight room

Defensive tackle Myles Wade, 6-2, 305, Portland (Ore.)Benson HS, could be doing a lot of things other thing rather than working on his football skills on a Sunday afternoon, particularly when he's also on spring vacation from school. However, on Sunday, March 26th, Wade was at the Barton Football Camp held at the Sylvania campus of Portland Community College going through drills and working to make himself better for next fall's football campaign.

Barton Football Camp, ran by former NFL quarterback Greg Barton operates nearly every Sunday and works on fundamentals. Retired Clackamas Head Football Coach Ray Baker heads a staff working with prospective linemen on drills such as read and react, pass rush, pursuit angles and run keys. The linemen range in grades 7th and up, meet for an hour and a half sessions.

Myles Wade has been attending Barton Football Camp for about two years and during his spring break he intends to keep training by going to a local gym working out. He is working on preparing for various football camps this spring and summer and plans on travelling to Southern California to visit USC and UCLA. He also intends on participating in the University of Oregon day camp in June.

Wade reports some very impressive updated numbers for his work in the weight room. His personal best in the bench press is 415 pounds, and he squats 520 pounds. He has a dead lift of 510 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.98 seconds. He has a 4.4-second 20-yard shuttle time along with a 27.8-inch vertical jump.
