Keep 'Em Coming

Cameron Collins Profile

"Oregon State is recruiting me the hardest, since they've offered me," said Collins, of Santa Monica High School. "I've been keeping in contact with Coach (Nigel) Burton. They are recruiting me mostly for defense (safety). They keep reminding me that they were the first to offer. I'm going to camp there this summer. "UCLA has been recruiting me pretty hard too," Collins said. "I've been talking to them a lot. I met with defensive coach Wayne Walker. He said he liked me a lot but wanted to see me more in action. They said they could really use me on defense so they are recruiting me for linebacker. I really like the campus…it's right in my backyard. I think they have a really strong program which is just getting better. My coach set up a meeting for me with Coach (Karl) Dorrell this Tuesday (4/25), so I'll know more after that.

"I've gotten some stuff from Oregon too," he said. "I haven't talked with them for the past couple of weeks. They want me to come up for camp, but I'm not sure if I'm going. They really sounded interested in me.

"I've also talked to the coaches at Cal. I actually talked to them a few days ago. I really like Cal a lot. I'm getting a lot of mail from them. I was supposed to go up for their junior day, but didn't make it. I'd like to get up there for a visit soon.

"I really like Stanford a lot too," Collins said. "I haven't talked to them yet, but I've gotten tons of stuff from them. They are an excellent school and have top-notch facilities. I was up there a couple of years ago. I'm going to the Nike camp at Stanford on May 13. I'm not sure if they want me for offense or defense yet.

Collins said his strengths are his fast hands and his hitting ability. He said he is working on his speed and quickness.

Collins reports a 3.75 core GPA/1540 SAT.
