"I'm a Tough Player…"

USC is the latest in a long line of schools to offer Orange (Calif.) quarterback Aaron Corp (6-4, 185, 4.65). The Lutheran High School signal caller, who also has offers from Colorado, California, UCLA, Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Washington, Washington State, Nebraska and Mississippi, said USC, Cal and Arizona State are at the top of his list.

Aaron Corp Profile

"I got an offer from USC on Friday," Corp said. "My dad and I went up yesterday afternoon and met with Coach (Pete) Carroll and Coach (Lane) Kiffin. It was really nice. We all talked a little and they showed us around the office and facilities and then they told me I had a scholarship offer. After that, they took me over to meet with the dean of the business school, since that's what I want to major in. It was really great day.

"USC is definitely up there with Cal and Arizona State now. I have to weigh in on my options. Before today, I hadn't seriously considered USC because, one, I didn't have an offer and, two, they were really focused on Jimmy Clausen (committed to Notre Dame). Then, last Tuesday (4/25), they came out to my school to watch me throw…I guess they were happy with what they saw."

Corp said that the recent issues regarding USC quarterback Mark Sanchez did not enter into his mind when he received the offer. "They think Sanchez is going to be okay. To tell you the truth, the whole thing with him really never entered my mind. If I decide to go to USC, it's going to be because the quality of the program and if the school fits best with what I want. It's the same with every school.

"Arizona State offered me last month," he said. "I really like the coaching staff. Coach (Roy) Wittke is a great coach. I really got a good feeling there. They told me that as a quarterback, I'd be going into a really good situation there. Right now, they only have two QBs on scholarship and one guy is a senior…so I would be able to play early there.

"I'm really interested in Cal too. They offered me pretty early…about a month in a half ago. I love the prestige of the school and the campus is amazing. There is such a family atmosphere there. It's like no other. I'd have the best of both academics and athletics there. Coach (Jeff) Tedford has done one of the best jobs I've seen in his time with the Bears. He has really built a solid program and great team."

Corp said he plans on making his decision sooner rather than later. "I don't think I want to wait too long. I just need to sit down and really look at what each school can offer me. I'm looking at the academics, campus atmosphere and how I'd be able to contribute to the program. I'd like to play early, but I know wherever I go I'll have some heavy competition…and that doesn't bother me and won't be a big factor in my decision.

"I'm a tough player. I know the game. I'm good at making my leads and getting the ball where it needs to be. I think I'm a very mobile QB. I want to work on my overall strength and getting bigger. Also, I like to sharpen my release."
