Hockey Mentality

Westlake Village (Calif.) defensive end Mike Ebbitt (6-5, 240) has added Colorado and Virginia to his favorites, joining Oregon and Arizona, a week after receiving offers from both schools. The Oaks Christian High School prospect said that he is also looking at Texas A&M.

"I going to visit Colorado and Texas A&M on May 12 and 13," Ebbitt said. "I've been talking to the coaches at A&M quite a bit lately. They told me that they are really interested and want to meet me in person. I would love to get an offer from A&M because my brother lives out there. I love Texas. I'm planning on going out there and seeing how the coaches are and try to just get a feel for the place. I think an offer may be coming soon.

"I really interested in Colorado too. I haven't met the D-line coach yet or seen the school. But I've heard a lot about how great the school is. Me, Duke (Lemmens) and Marshall (Jones) all got offers from CU so it's definitely somewhere I'm really considering. I grew up playing hockey in Wisconsin so I think I would love Colorado—having a real winter and four actual seasons would be great.

"Virginia is up on my list," he said. "I got my offer from them about two weeks ago. I really like that they are the number one academic school in the nation. I haven't talked with them a lot about my offer, but I'm planning on taking a visit out there in June."

With a total of 10 offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon, Oregon State, Washington, Washington State, Utah, Colorado, Virginia and Tennessee, Ebbitt said he will try to decide before the season starts. "I hope to see an offer from A&M soon. I want to see where I stand with Texas before I start narrowing my list down."

Ebbitt reports a 3.0 core GPA and is awaiting April 8 ACT results.
