Westlake Village (Calif.) cornerback Anthony Gildon (6-1, 184, 4.5) said he heavily favors Oregon over Nebraska, Michigan, Tennessee and Utah--all have offered. The Oaks Christian High School recruit said he also has offers from Kentucky, Northwestern, Mississippi State and UNLV.

Anthony Gildon Profile

"Oregon is my heavy favorite right now, but I don't want to commit until I see the other schools," said Gildon, from Oaks Christian High School. "I got the offer quite a while ago. I've been up to the school twice and I absolutely loved it. They have the best facilities on the West Coast. The coaches seem really knowledgeable and I was really impressed. I've talked to pretty much all the defensive coaches and they're not putting any pressure on me…they understand that I want to explore my options before I make any decisions. My parents really like Oregon too because they want me to stay closer to home.

"I like Nebraska too. I just got the written offer from them today. I've talked to Coach (John) Blake a lot. He called me yesterday. He told me how great the fans are out there and how much he thought I'd like the school. He wants me to come out for a visit. I have family out there so I think I'm going to go this summer.

"Michigan is my number three school right now," he said. "I haven't got my written offer yet, but I talked to Coach (Ron) English and Coach (Lloyd) Carr and they told me the offer should be getting here soon. They verbally offered me about three weeks ago. I've always liked Michigan. My mom's family is from there. I've followed Big Blue football since I was a kid…I even had a teddy bear that sang the Michigan fight song.

"Tennessee is also on my list. I went out there with Jimmy Clausen and a group of guys a couple of months ago. They offered me a couple of weeks ago. I've talked with Coach (Phil) Fulmer and Coach (Greg) Adkins a lot. I also talked with Rick Clausen about the school. They have great facilities and the coaches are really nice too. Their defense really impressed me when I was out there.

"I like Utah a lot too," Gildon said. "I got the offer from them a couple of weeks ago. Coach (Charlie) Dickey called me Monday night and told me they need a cover corner and that I'd be perfect for them. We talked about the community and how nice everyone was. That's really important to me. Also, my teammate, Joe Guiliani, goes there and he loves it. I'm going to trip up there this summer."

Gildon said he plans to commit by September. "I want to get it out of the way before football season.

"I'm a really good cover corner. I like to come up and bump. I really want to work on my footwork this summer."

Final junior stats: 60 tackles/four interceptions--two returned for TDs/two sacks/one fumble recovery
