Back to Cali

Offensive lineman/defensive tackle Darrion Weems (6-5, 265, 5.1) is currently living in Cedar Hill (Texas), but he'll be moving back to California this summer and will play his senior season at Woodland Hills High School in Taft. Weems favors Oregon slightly over USC, Michigan, Oklahoma and Florida, but of those, only the Ducks have offered.

He says he also has offers from Boston College, Arizona, Baylor, Washington and Nebraska.

"Oregon is recruiting me the hardest," Weems said. "They have a great coaching staff and facilities. I love the location too and I'd really like to play in the Pac-10. They are one of the best teams every year. I like that they are a hard-working, intense team."

Weems plans to attend the Oregon camp as well as a one-day camp at Texas A&M. The only school in his top five that he has already visited is USC. "They are a top program and I like how well the coaches prepare their players for the NFL.

"I also love the tradition at Michigan," Weems said. "They produce great players every year. Same with Oklahoma. They are a very prestigious program and have great coaches. I like that they complete for the national title nearly every year. They seem really interested and I think they'll offer.

"I want to play under good players and coaches and learn as much as I can," Weems said. "I really want to improve in college and be a great player. I'm gonna try to go through the whole process. I've been waiting for this for a long time and I don't want to miss out on anything."

He reports a 2.7 GPA and will take the SAT in June.
