California cornerback Anthony Gildon (6-1, 180, 4.5), from Oaks Christian High School in Westlake Village, continues to favor Oregon big over Nebraska, Michigan, Miami and California--all have offered. Tennessee, Utah, Arizona, San Diego State, Northwestern and UNLV, among others.

Anthony Gildon Profile

"I like Oregon a lot because I feel really comfortable with defensive coordinator (Nick) Aliotti, secondary coach (John) Neal and offensive line coach (Steve) Greatwood. I've only taken trips to Oregon so far-- in April, May, and just recently for Junior Day and to watch their Spring Game scrimmage," Gildon said. "Distance isn't much of a factor, but it's nice that Oregon is only a state away from home.

"Nebraska is in my top three because they've been recruiting me so hard and I know they've had a lot of defensive backs coming in over the past couple years. Coach (John)Blake (defensive line), is a funny guy who's really straightforward--I like that in a coach.

"I have a lot of family in Michigan who are only a couple miles away from the school--so in case I get snowed in, I'll have some people close by to call," said Gildon.

"As for Miami, I have a pretty good interest. I just don't have any family there.

"California is a great school. They have a great defensive play there, and their defensive backs have smooth hips and back petals. They're real smooth--and to me, that means good coaching.

"The biggest thing when it comes to deciding on a school will be the surrounding city and being comfortable with coaches because of the time I will be spending with them," Gildon said.

"I get mail everyday from all the schools. Overall, I'd like to redshirt my freshman year and practice so that it doesn't count against me in the total years I play."

Gildon has no specific plans for camps this summer, but says, "I'm trying to work around my football schedule, of course my parents' schedule--and the costs."

Gildon reports a 2.5 core GPA/18 ACT--June 10 retake.
