As previously reported, Sherman Oaks (Calif.) offensive tackle Charlie Carmichael (6-5, 295, 5.1) committed to Oregon during a 6:30 pm Wednesday phone call to Duck coach Steve Greatwood.
Charlie Carmichael Profile
"I was at a tutoring session and then I got home and talked with my parents," said Carmichael, who is Scout.com's No. 20 offensive lineman. "We discussed it and decided it was a good time to do it. This entire week I was on the verge. When I told Coach Greatwood, he was thrilled. I knew it was the place for me to go, so I told them I'm gonna be Duck.
"I just had a better feeling at Oregon than I did at Arizona State, my number two choice. I liked the college town atmosphere at Eugene. Everyone in the town knows the entire roster and everyone goes to all the games.
"Greatwood told me that they want me for offensive guard because I'm explosive and powerful," he said. "But I've always played offensive tackle and I'm more comfortable there."
"I'm going to Oregon on Monday with my mom and my teammate, Shane Horton. Shane hasn't been offered yet, but they are recruiting him.
"I'm definitely sticking with the commitment regardless of who else offers. I gave them my word."
Carmichael reports a 3.0 core GPA/1800 SAT.
