D.J. Holt Profile
"I play defensive end now but I'm being recruited for inside and outside linebacker. I prefer to play outside linebacker in college because they last longer on the field and I have more variety: I can rush if I'm on the outside, play in the box, and drop in to cover a receiver or tight end," Holt said.
"USC is prestigious, prestigious. They are always in the championship. They are close to home and my family roots for the Trojans. I like their program because it's about intensity, dedication and hard work. I'm not worried that they haven't offered me yet because they usually offer late.
"One of my coaches, Eric Banducci, went to UCLA. He said that the academics will get me a good education, and that it's right by the beach so the weather is perfect--not too hot, not too cold," Holt said.
"Arizona State's weather is hot like California and they are always in the top 25 in college football. Rodney Glass committed to Arizona State and I've known him since Elementary.
"Washington has a program that's on the rise and I think I'd be able to play right away. Their offense and defensive schemes are a lot like my high school's," he said.
"I only have three offers right now because the other schools are waiting to see me at more camps to decide what position I play best. I'm an athlete--I can play both sides of the field," he said. "I'm going to the Rising Senior camp at USC from June 26 to 27 and the Elite B2G in Thousand Oaks (Calif.) on June 22.
"I have all my (high school) requirements, but I'm in summer school to retake some classes from my early years that I got Ds in. I'm retaking freshman english, sophomore biology and world history. The coaches said that redoing my past Ds will help me get more offers."
Holt reports a 2.7 core GPA and awaits his June 3 SAT.
