Casey Matthews Profile
"I'm leaning toward Oregon because they have the best of everything," Matthews said. "The coaches have been together so long that I wouldn't have to worry about them leaving. They have a winning team that consecutively plays in bowl games. Their facilities are all top of the line because one of their graduates founded Nike and donates funds," he said.
"I visited in March with my dad, and I plan to visit again in a few weeks with my mom. The atmosphere of the Duck fans is wild--42 of Oregon's home games have been sold out consecutively! Everyone in Eugene is a football fan," Matthews said.
"Georgia Tech has good academics because it's an engineering school. Their football program has been around for a long time. I visited a couple months ago, and the only negative thing is the five-hour plane ride. My parents would be bummed if I lived that far away," he said.
"I'm pretty sure I'll end up at Oregon, but my parents say I should use my opportunity to look into the other schools too. I've set a deadline for myself to commit this summer, but it could be anytime this summer.
"I have eight written offers, and three verbal. My newest verbal offer was from California, which I received on Thursday," Matthews said. "I don't know much about California and the other schools because I haven't visited them."
Matthews reports a 3.2 core GPA and 21 ACT score.
