More offers coming in

It pays to verify rumors because in the case of Brandon Jackson, 5-11, 195, Eugene (Ore.) Marist HS, a phone call cleared up his current status. Rumors had it that he was ready to commit to the University of Oregon as a "motion-back."

Brandon Jackson's status though is that he is waiting things out as he has had more recruiting interest from a number of programs.

"I'm going to wait until after the season starts up," said Jackson of his decision. "I'm going to take some of my visits then."

Jackson revealed that he just recently received offers from California and Washington. Jackson is currently with his high school team at a camp near Gold Beach, Oregon, but when he gets back home he expects written offers from the two schools.

"Oregon and California are my top-2 schools right now," Jackson admitted.

Coach Ron Gould from California has been Jackson main contact with Golden Bears and Coach Steve Greatwood has been the focal point for Jackson with the Ducks. Oregon's head coach Mike Bellotti personally offered a scholarship to Jackson and presently the Marist star has six offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Boise State, Boston College, Washington and Cal on the table.

Jackson said that the Bears are recruiting him as a running back while Oregon envisions him as a motion back -- a player that could run the ball but also be used in passing formations.

After his team's camp is completed, Jackson is going home to Eugene and will prepare for next season in the weight room. He has a summer job at his high school and does not plan to take any unofficial visits other than to Oregon and Oregon State this summer.

He is a good student carrying a 3.0 cumulative GPA and scored 1575 on the SAT.
