Decision time looming

Casey Matthews just returned with his parents from his trip to the University of California and the University of Oregon. Matthews was very impressed with the Cal program, but not enough to change his mind about where he wants to spend his collegiate career.

Matthews visited Oregon yesterday after visiting California.

"My mom fell in love with Oregon from the moment we stepped into the coaches' offices," Matthews said. "We had real nice time in Eugene."

The California program impressed the linebacker from Oak Christian High School in Westlake Village, California but Berkeley was just not for him.

"Cal impressed me quite a bit but I just don't see myself fitting in with the surrounding town," Matthews indicated.

It is now coming down to decision time and while Matthews has indicated previously that he wants to make his decision before Oaks Christian's season starts, he may decide much sooner between two schools, Oregon and Georgia Tech.

"We are going to sit down as a family and discuss it," Matthews said. "We'll write down the pro's and con's of each program and decide what's best for me."

What are some of the pro's and con's of each program? Actually he likes both programs and there is really little separating the two. The only negative thing about Georgia Tech is the distance from home and the only thing about Oregon Matthews could think of off the top of his head was that the weather in the winter. Matthews added "that anybody can deal with that."

Oregon success over the last few years is also a consideration particularly for a guy who is coming from a high school team with 31 consecutive wins. Casey is anxious to start his final year of high school football so getting recruiting out of the way could happen very soon.

Will Matthews call either the Oregon or Georgia Tech coaches in the next few days and make a commitment? Stay logged in and find out!
