New Ducks To Appear At Track Showcase

EUGENE – The newest members of the University of Oregon's 2006 football team will be among more than 50 of the school's football players who will take part in The Road to Eugene ‘08 track and field event which begins at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday at Hayward Field.

Approximately 25 of the Ducks' football players who are new to Eugene for the start of football drills Monday, as well as about 29 returnees, are scheduled to be available to sign autographs from 7:00-7:45 p.m. near the southeast corner of the track. In addition, they will assist with the running of the Kids' Half-Lapper, which is a 200-meter fun run for kids 12 years-of-age and under. That event is scheduled to start at 7:20 p.m. and will be run in front of the west grandstands.

The Road to Eugene ‘08 is a two-hour track event that will feature a collection of some of the top track and field Olympic hopefuls in the country as well as many of the members of the U.S. junior national team who have been training in Eugene in preparation for the World Junior Championships in Beijing, China, Aug. 15-20.

Tickets for the track and field showcase are $15 each for reserved seating and $10 for general admission, and are available at the Casanova Center ticket office, or by calling (541) 346-4461. Tuesday's meet, sponsored by Nike and the Eugene Local Organizing Committee for the 2008 U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials, will serve as part of the kickoff for preparations for the Olympic Trials, which will be held at Hayward Field June 27 through July 6, 2008.
