Jackie Bates gets run over by Dan Kause but still manages to make the open field tackle. After the first week of practice, Bates looks to have secured the number one spot at corner.
Jaison Williams snags the ball in front of Jameel Dowling on a quick out pattern. Williams has improved his hands over the offseason and could become a real weapon this season if he stays focused. With his size and speed, Williams figures to be a tough cover for opposing defenses.
Ryan Keeling secures the pass from Leaf over the middle. Keeling had a big day with a couple long pass receptions and some nifty moves to pick up extra yards. It will be hard to keep him off the field due to his tremendous talent and upside.
Garren Strong goes up to make the grab in front of Willie Glasper in coverage. Strong has had an excellent showing in the first week's practices and is quickly rising on the depth chart. If his play remains consistent, he should see a great deal of playing time this season.
Jairus Byrd steps in front of a pass intended for newcomer Akobundu Ikwuakor and bats the ball away. Jairus Byrd has the look of a budding star coming into his own. Look for him to play a lot this season as he will be hard to keep off the field with his ability to play multiple positions effectively.
Paysinger had a rough day on Friday with a couple bad drops. With as much talent as Oregon has at Wide Receiver, making the easy plays becomes critical in order to earn playing time.
Ed Dickson hauls in a pass for a big gain. Dickson displayed great hands and speed on Friday getting open regularly and making the most of his opportunities. Look for Dickson to see a lot of playing time this year as a redshirt freshman.
Jameel Dowling nearly comes up with a pick but manages to swat away the pass intended for Ryan Keeling. Dowling got beat a few times but showed good recovery speed in coverage.
Jairus Byrd makes an outstanding diving interception on a ball thrown by Brady Leaf. Byrd made a few great plays on the day and really stood out in the secondary.
Dante Rosario drops a pass inbetween two defenders. With the "club" on his right arm, Rosario hasn't seen as many passes come his way.
After the scrumb, both the Offensive and Defensive Linemen were given the opportunity to run stair steps. Tempers quickly cooled down after the short brawl.
The play of the day went to Jordan Kent as he leaped high into the air to snag a pass from Dennis Dixon and shook off two defenders before cutting down the sideline on his way to a 70-yard touchdown. Kent has progressed immensely as a wide receiver and with every practice he looks more and more natural. Kent will without a doubt have a large impact on this team before the season is all said and done.
After another effective run, Jonathan Stewart takes a quick breather before he is helped to his feet by Jordan Kent. Stewart had many impressive runs during the scrimmage where he displayed not only his strength and speed, but his vision and ability to cut and find the hole. Stewart will team up with Jeremiah Johnson to make an impressive backfield duo.
