Houston Cassita Profile
"I still haven't got an offer from Clemson but, I'm waiting," Cassita said. "Keeping my options open. I really like their consistency and tradition. Also, their running back core isn't very deep so it would be possible for me to play in the first or second game.
"I've been talking to UCLA. They seem interested and I really love California--it's so much closer to home. I haven't seen their campus yet, though.
"I haven't been able to schedule a visit to Oregon yet," he said. "I follow the team and I grew up loving the Ducks so I really want to check out the campus and their facilities. I think I could get a lot playing time there and my dad likes Oregon.
"Last June I went to Junior Day over at Tennessee to meet with Coach (Phil) Fulmer. He was really nice. The tradition down there is crazy. I mean like 110,000 people in the stadium. All you see is orange. Everyone's about football down there, it's great.
"I've been down to BYU a few times now. I like how they are always improving. They're really committed to football and a lot of their players have gone on to the NFL. They have a cool indoor field and an outdoor practice field too. But I was really amazed by their weight room!
"I've already had six TDs this season. The last game I played in, against Bingham, I broke a 77 yard run and rushed for 150 yards and had like 14 carries. I have a natural ability to run so I don't hesitate when I see a hole open. I'm not afraid of anyone. Except maybe a NFL player!
"I've really been working on my speed by focusing on plyometrics, lifting, stretching, basically anything I can to improve," Cassita said. "By focusing on specifics like that I've felt myself balancing things out more this season--really working at practice to utilize all my abilities.
"My whole team went to Georgia to play Valdosta High School," Cassita said. "After the game we drove down to Atlanta to watch the Georgia Tech/Notre Dame game. I would also consider Georgia Tech."
He reports a 2.7 core GPA and plans to take his ACT in October.
