Gives Oregon visit a ‘9'

Auburn-Riverside TE David Paulson has become a very hot commodity since the spring evaluation period and he's accumulated a plethora of offers from some of the Pac 10 top programs. Paulson took visit to Eugene last weekend to take in the Oklahoma-Oregon game and he came away impressed with the Ducks.

"It was a great visit," Paulson told Scout.com. "I flew down on Saturday morning and then I headed over the team hotel where the team was staying. My parents drove down so they showed up a little bit later.

"After I hung out with the players at the team hotel, we went through what they called the ‘Walk of Champions' and it was great because they had all these fans there and they really showed how much their fans are behind them."

Then Paulson got to take in one of the best games he's ever seen.

"Man it was a crazy game," Paulson said. "The fans were really into it which was great and the final part was nuts. I think (the Ducks) were down by something like 13 points and they came back and won it. It was a great atmosphere and me and all the other recruits had a lot of fun at the game."

Joining Paulson were four players from Oaks Christian and Auburn (Wa.) QB Kellen Kiilsgaard.

"They were really good guys," Paulson said. "All of hung out a lot and we were all cracking jokes and stuff like that. It was fun."

Paulson's host on his trip was TE Ryan Keeling who did his best to sell Paulson on the benefits of being a Duck.

"He was telling me how he is the only underclass tight end they have," Paulson noted. "I guess they have two senior tight ends and then it's just him so that means I could come in and play pretty quickly if I decided to go there."

Later Paulson got a one-on-one meeting with Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti.

"My parents left kind of early because they had to drive back," Paulson said," So I got to meet with (Bellotti) by myself. He just talked about all the benefits of going to Oregon and why he likes my abilities so much and stuff like that.

"Overall I would have to give the visit a 9 because I haven't gone anywhere else yet. It was a really good visit and I had a really good time."

Next up for Paulson is his official visit to Cal this coming weekend (he'll fly in on Friday morning because his game is on Thursday night) and then he hasn't made up his mind on what he'll do then.

"Stanford is recruiting me now and I'm going to look hard at them too," Paulson said. "I really don't know what I'm going to do with my final three visits. I might take them or I might not. We'll see."
