Dion Bland Profile
His only scholarship offer thus far is still from Washington, although he says that he thinks California is close to offering. "I talked with the defensive backs coach (Todd Littlejohn) a few days ago and he told me that they'll have an offer for me," Bland said. "He's a cool guy and I feel comfortable around all of the coaches there."
Bland favors Washington slightly over Cal, Oregon, Fresno State and USC. "I'm not really hearing from USC at all, but I get letters from everybody else," Bland said. "Oregon sends a lot of mail and obviously I hear from Washington a lot.
"I think that Washington is doing all right this year," Bland said. "Coach Ty Willingham is good and they are playing some good ball right now. I think they'll just continue to improve. They beat Fresno State and UCLA, which is a great start."
He will be attending the Fresno State/Colorado State game this weekend (September 30), although he admits he hasn't had the time to follow college football this season. "I've really been too busy to watch the games," Bland said.
One reason that Bland may not have more scholarship offers is his academic situation. He has a 2.0 GPA and has not scheduled the SAT or ACT yet. "I've talked to the Washington coaches about my grades and I know that they want to talk with my coach about it," Bland said. "They haven't talked with me about junior college or prep school or anything."
