Oregon leads ASU 24-3 at half

Tempe, Ariz. --Oregon made a strong case that its No. 14 ranking is well deserved by running out to a 24-3 lead over Arizona State.

The Ducks started the scoring off with a 76-yard drive when Jaison Williams took a Dennis Dixon pass for 13 yards in a drive lasting 2:48 of clock and in nine plays. The Ducks thwarted ASU's ensuing drive when stopped when Terrell Ward intercepted the ball in the end zone.

Williams caught his second touchdown pass with 3:00 left in the first quarter on a 33 pass from Dixon. The drive went 80 yards and in seven plays and took 3:02 off the drive.

The first quarter ended with Oregon leading 14-0.

The Ducks scored in the second quarter when Cameron Colvin scored on a reverse from 3-yards out. Making the score 21-3 after the point after.

Ironically, the first half ended on – you guessed it a challenge that overturned an interception. Dixon had hit Dante Rosario for 21 yards to the ASU 17 and the ball popped up when Rosario hit the ground. With six seconds left in the half Paul Martinez booted a 37 yard field goal to make the score 24-3 Oregon.

Dexter Manley recorded three sacks in the first half along with Cole Linehan also bringing down ASU quarterback Rudy Carpenter 7-yards behind the line of scrimmage..

The completely dominated the first half statistics with Dixon's 13-for-21, 183 yards and two touchdowns. Jaison Williams had eight catches for 117 yards and two scores. Jonathan Stewart rushed for 67 yards on seven carries while Jeremiah Johnson had 47 yards on four carries. Oregon recorded a total of 327 yards to ASU's 119 yards.

ASU sole score was a 33-yard kicked a field goal.
