After a crushing loss full of turnovers, mistakes, and poor execution, there was room for improvement for the Ducks on Saturday. For a team plagued with injuries all season, the Ducks received positive news before the opening kickoff as they welcomed back key players in Ra'shon Harris, Jeremy Gibbs, and Garren Strong.
On Oregon's second possession of the game, the offense got things going with an 8 play, 72 yard drive resulting in an 11-yard Dennis Dixon touchdown toss to Jaison Williams in the back of the endzone. The ground game was established early on as both Jonathan Stewart and Jeremiah Johnson hit big holes with speed and power. Stewart would not return during the remainder of the half after being tackled out-of-bounds into a bench. Stewart is reported to have suffered an abdominal strain.

The Ducks received great field position on the following drive as they started on the PSU 26 yard line. Garren Strong caught his first pass in several weeks after returning from injury and drew a pass interference call that allowed Jeremiah Johnson to get into the endzone on a 1-yard run.

After exchanging possessions back and forth, PSU finally got on the board thanks in large part to a couple penalties commited by the Oregon defense. The extra point attempt was blocked by Oregon's Jeremy Gibbs.

The Ducks would reach the endzone one final time in the first half with Dennis Dixon under center. A couple quick Dixon scampers and pass completions to Jaison Williams and Jordan Kent set up Jeremiah Johnson for his third rushing touchdown of the game. Johnson finished the first half as the leading rusher with 14 carries for 62 yards and 3 TD's. Jaison Williams was the leading receiver with 6 grabs for 75 yards.
