Media Predicts Fourth-Place Finish for Ducks

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Oregon was slated for a fourth-place finish in the annual preseason men's basketball poll Pac-10 media poll, released Thursday at the conference's media day. Defending regular season and Pac-10 tournament champion UCLA was the consensus pick to win the league.

The 2006 NCAA runner-up Bruins finished with 335 points and 21 first place votes. Arizona was next with 280 points and 13 first-place votes. Washington took the third spot with 236 points.

Oregon, coming off a 15-18 season, but with all five starters returning, garnered 193 points, edging California's 177 points.

USC headed the second five with 160 points, followed by Stanford (127), Oregon State (75), Arizona State (69) and Washington State (54).

Oregon, which defeated Lewis & Clark 93-55 in an exhibition game Wednesday night, faces Southern Oregon Monday in it final exhibition game.

The regular season gets underway Nov. 10 when the Ducks host Lehigh in the Basketball Travelers Classic.
