Game Day: Oregon vs. USC

Los Angeles, Calif. -- the 21th ranked Oregon (7-2, 4-2) Ducks will take the field tonight against the No. 7 USC Trojans (7-1, 5-1) at the Los Angeles Coliseum with kickoff sceduled for 7:15 p.m.

A win by Oregon will keep the Ducks' hope alive for a conference championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl. USC still has dreams of playing for a National Championship and could take a step forward by beating Oregon.

No fewer than 31 of the 100 players listed on the Ducks official roster are from Southern California and the team will be making its first trip to the Coliseum since 2000 as the last three Oregon-USC games have been in Eugene.

The Ducks want to ensure ball security and not turn the ball over. Oregon will also have their hands full with USC's quarterback John David Booty throwing to his two talented receivers Dwayne Jarrett and Steve Smith.

The Trojans by contrast are concerned about keeping tabs on Oregons' Dennis Dixon and not letting him get going by throwing short passes and running for first downs. USC also does not want Jonathan Stewart and Jeremiah Johnson to combine for a big running day and burning up the game clock.

The game is homecoming for the Trojans and the Coliseum is sold out. The game will be carried nationally by Fox Sports Net with Barry Tompkins, Petros Papadakis and Jim Watson.

Back in Oregon, the game will be rebroadcast on Saturday night by the Oregon Sports Network with Joe Giansante and Anthony Newman.

OSN radio will begin its coverage at 6 p.m. along the OSN radio network. Jerry Allen will call the action with Mike Jorgensen providing color commentary and Jay Allen will be on the sidelines.
